The rooms are dorms during most of the year and are hard used and a bit rough around the edges. That said they try hard to keep things nice. Staff are polite and effective.
Just a personal review: worst hotel experience ever but front desk staff very friendly. I entered this review one month after check-in date as I tried to give the hotel a chance to give me an explanation but the management is basically non-responsive. Below is what happened to us: After we checked in to Barrie Residence & Conference Centre and entered the room assigned, we were surprised to find that apparently somebody just used the room. The TV was on in one room, and someone just used the bed in the other room, and I saw one empty coke on a table. In the kitchen, a garbage bag (with garbage in it) was on the floor and some pizza left-over was found on the counter-top with flies on it. In the bathroom, the toilet was really dirty and some flies were found.We were very disappointed so I asked for cancellation of the room at the front desk. I declined their offer for a new room because we have two kids and there is no guarantee that the bed sheets are gonna be clean.Most disappointing thing is that after I contact the management staff for refund but I got only one reply saying he is looking into the issue and then no reply to my inquiry emails during the past one month.
Very poor housekeeping!! Dirty bedsheets and pillow cases, dirty shower and the dryer in the laundromat didn't work properly. You had to flash the card at least 500 times until it works. However the front desk staff were very helpful like the blonde lady with tattoos on her arm. Either the students need to do a better job cleaning up after themselves or the housekeeping staff need a talking to either way I will never come here again
Booked it as all other hotels were full for long weekend. Very good location as it is right off the hwy 400. Took a while to find as wasn't sure where to enter for the building. There is big sign "Residences" however for outsiders, it's not clear if it is same as "Residence & Conference Centre". I suggest to put up specific sign on Georgian Drive (right at the entrance to block)Regarding stay, not happy with the rooms. they look very run down and ambiance is very plain. Doesn't feel like the hotel rooms. The washroom is okay, the only problem we find was the dirty sink. The bed was of okay quality and didn't feel cozy. I suggest to provide better blankets.The bed sheets and towels were clean so no complaint there. I was disappointed with breakfast. I understand it's complementary breakfast but have something for kids too. Adding cereals and juice would add more value. I would avoid renting this place again unless I don't have any choice.
Staff was very lovely but the room we were in was not the greatest. Especially the bed it was not clean and the shower was not clean and then they moved us into another room and the bed sheets were a bit unclean I saw what it looked like to be a blood spot on my sheets and black spots on the pillow cases which were probably burn marks. I was not happy but there was a lovely nice lady at the front desk with blond hair and a tattoo on her arm. She was very nice and polite.
